ImplementedFor the sponsor's supply and logistics staff (external to the organization)

Sponsor Supply Manager

Last updated Oct 21, 2026

What this role is, and who it is for

Read-only oversight with a supply focus, and the narrowest role in the system. You work for the sponsor, so you are an external study member, invited by the Project Manager through Add sponsor staff, and never a member of the organization (Staff a study team).

What you cannot do, and why

Everything else. You cannot write data, see queries or the adverse-event logs, read the audit trail or the e-signature register, start an export, or sign anything.

What Trialion does and does not give you

It gives you what was captured: which participants are enrolled at which sites, when their visits happened and what the dispensing forms record. It does not give you supply management: there is no drug inventory, no shipment tracking, no resupply triggers and no randomization or supply-system integration (Not built yet). If you need those, they live in your supply system; Trialion is the record of what reached the participant.

What the system records

Reading leaves the request log only; nothing you do changes a record. See Audit events.

Compliance Q&A

Compliance Q&ABuiltPart 11 11.10(d)Annex 11 12ICH E6 data-governance
Is access for external supply staff limited to what their task needs?

Yes. The role holds eight read permissions and nothing that writes; it is an external role, so it is held on one study at a time and never by an organization member.

Limits: the role was not exercised in the study simulations; the statement rests on the role catalog.

Evidence: role-catalog sponsor_supply (8 read permissions, no write, no audit.read, no query access)external-role rule in the team module
